Default New guy from NC

Been riding for 2 months now and enjoying every minute. I have a 2001 Honda Shadow Spirit 1100 that I put a little over 5000 miles on. I'm sure I'll have questions about riding and tech stuff soon. Wouldn't mind finding people in the area to ride with.

We missed it. When? Just now. When will then be now? Soon.

Default Intro

Began biking again after 38-year hiatus. Read reviews, forums, and spec sheets looking for the best bike for what I wanted to do and comfort fit. Finally chose the Kawa Vulcan 900 Classic LT, bought it in February '08, and haven't regreted it yet (except for the seat).

However, last weekend I rented a H-D Ultra Classic Electra Glide for a trip from Alexandria, VA, to Gettysburg, PA. Thought I had died and gone to biker heaven: great audio, six gears, cruise control, and a sticker price of about $23,000 compared to the $8600 for the Kawasaki. Some day, maybe.

A question for those of you who have the 900 Vulcan and own a Mustang seat. Because it is probably higher and wider than the stock seat, what impact does that have on your position relative to the center of gravity and handling the controls? Any associated instability?

Thanks, folks, and glad to be a member of this community. Charlotte, NC, is home (for now).
