Default new from NH

hey-let me introduce myself and tell you a little story about me and my bike.
I live in New Hampshire now, and have 4 grown kids. The 2 boys are riders too.
I learned how to ride back in 1975 on a minibike In 1978 I learned how to ride a motorcycle on a Kawasaki 90 and then a Kawasaki 125.
I wanted my own bike. Since I could not afford a Harley I bought a brand new 1980 Suzuki GN400 for 1200 bucks.
When having my family I sold the bike. That guy beat the heck out of it and moved to Cape Cod where he left it out in the salty air for years.
He then sold it to a guy that wanted a bike he could ride on the lake in the winter and in the woods in the summer. What he basically wanted was a bike he could beat the heck out of without worrying about the bike's looks. He crashed it several times and ended up leaving it exposed in his back yard for years without ever starting it.
The bike rusted and the tank rusted clean through. He got paint spray and drips on it from having it close by while painting the house.
He had the original paper work and found my name on it.
His wife wanted him to junk it so he looked me up and asked me if I wanted it back.
After hearing the above story I did not want to buy anything that bad.
Well he gave it to me for free. He even delivered it in his pick up truck, right to my house.
My son and I have been working on it, off and on for 2 years now.
It starts with 1 kick almost effortlessly.
The bike I bought new in 1980 has come home to stay.
I am the 1st and 4th owner of this bike and have just given it to my son.
Now that we have it running and back on the road we want to do a little customizing to it to make it unique.
I will ask questions in the appropriate forums.
thanks
