| I just bought a Volusia (my first bike in 30 years) and am very happy with it. But there are times when I would like a little more sound than the stock exhaust is giving me. But there are other times when I don't. Any ideas? I have listened to some bikes with Cobra pipes and that is too much for my taste.

| Welcome and a great bike choice I might add. About the exhaust, one thing a fellow member at volusiaowners.com did was drill holes in the baffles. He drilled a series of holes until he got the sound he wanted. Now he also drilled them with the option of filling them with bolts or screws if he wanted it quieter. Mine are still stock and I don't plan on changing it but I would try drilling first. If you go to the above website, look in Modifications. Mike Last edited by JohnScott; 06-12-2006 at 09:16 PM. |

| I stickied this post because I though it important to "catch em at the door" to say hello. I am not going to lock it however because my second hope is that it will become a thread that does run on for pages and pages. New members are not going to get lost ( I know I will read and welcome new members who introduce themselves) and hopefully all the "Hey, new guy here" posts will thin out in the lobby. The lobby should be for general riding information, goofing off, silly pics and links and general board announcements as well as introductions. |

| Hi, I am a 25 year old account manager and I live in South Africa, and I am new to bike riding. I have a Honda CGL 125 which I have had for about 6 weeks now, and I have about 780 kilometres on it (approx 480 miles) and I am really enjoying it. It has a 4 stroke engine with a top end speed of about 60 mph. And as it happens, the bike is too slow for me. But I will stick with it for about 6 months or so, just to get all the basics down. Why does it sound like I am standing up at an AA meeting? Regards Dwayne Hicks |

Hello Dwayne , Welcome to the forums! We only use first names at our meetings This board is really beginning to draw an interesting mix globally. South Africa? What's that like? Pics are cool! Your bike may be a little underpowered for you, but it sounds like you've got the right idea. Keep it for a while, ride the heck out of it and get a good set of fundamentals before you move up. | |

| U.B's LoveChild ![]() | Welcome. If you can, please do post some pictures of your land. Keith and I were talking the other night over a pitcher of beer, where we would like to go and travel. South Africa was one of the places that I mentioned that I would like to go to and visit. Both pictures and some other interesting information would be appreciated as well. Thanks and welcome again!

| Well, here's another noob post. I am new to riding. In fact, I have not even gotten my licence yet. I picked up a 1980 GSX250 for free because the owner couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. It had not been run in about 10 years. Having worked on my own cars all these years, I figured I could probably fix it. Sure enough, after some timkering I discovered why it wouldn't start: the clutch starter interlock would not disengage. I bypassed it and got the bike running, although not very well. We had it running on starting fluid for a few seconds and it seemed to run fine (no noises from the engine, or odd vibrations) When we put gasoline to it, it didn't want to idle unless the choke was on, even after running for a few minutes. We also could not give it any throttle or it would die. I read a post in the Mechanic's section of this site that suggests I have a vacuum leak - I will investigate it later tonight - it's quite plausible, especailly since it's sat for so long. Anyways, I have tons of questions, and I will put them in their appropriate sub-forums. Just wanted to introduce myself here in this thread. Chad |

| Hello, I'm a new rider, kinda!! I rode many years ago and just recently picked it up again. I took the MSF course in Aug 2002. In Arizona!! It was very hot, and I was afraid I could not make it, but I did!! I then bought a new GZ250, which I should not have, because I outgrew it in a month. I should have gotten a used bike and practiced on that. A month ago I finally could not take it anymore and traded in the 250 for my Intruder800, which I LOVE!! I am 49 and live with my BF iin SE AZ down by the border of Mexico. Lots of great riding roads here. BF has a Harley Low Rider 1400, and my Intruder keeps right up with him! Am looking forward to getting some good advice here! oops, I thought this would insert pic...how do I do that here? |

| Louis was right that the BBcode was turned off in that post, I changed it so now we get to see her twice "TwiggyAZ" I checked your profile setting and they are right. By default you can post images just by including the IMG tags. I don't know if you did it intentionally or by accident but you do not need to check any boxes below the post screen for images to appear, they are on by default. |
