Default Greetings from Norman, OK

I am a professional musician with a job! that makes me a rarity right off the bat.. sold my KZ900 25 years ago when my daughter was born, now am itchy to get back into biking . . . thinking of a mid-sized cruiser - seems to be common advice to avoid a really big bike for now (thoughts?). Favorites at the top of the list are the C50T and Vulcan 900 LT. I guess I'll try to find one barely used. Will take the motorcycle class very soon - KS

to M-J Karl!

Both great bikes. Go to a few dealers and sit on them to see how it suits you.

Default New Rider

After 20 years of dreaming about owning a motorcycle, I woke up one day about a month ago with a 2007 C90T in my garage. And my wife, who up to about three weeks ago had never ridden a bike, planned a road trip from SE Texas to Illinois (roughly 1,000 miles!!!) to see some family. Yes, I know, I have the BEST WIFE in the world.

First of all, quit being as a$$ and put the pipes back on. Or at least get aftermarket to improve the sound but not be so irritatingly loud. And yes, the bike is probably not running right with the straight pipes. The bike's carburetor or fuel injection will be off (sorry, not a cruiser person so I don't know which it has). So, if you are going to run straight pipes, it will need to be adjusted to run right. But for god's sake, put on some pipes. People like you are the reason so many people HATE motorcyclist and cities and states are always trying to pass new laws and ordinances against bikes.

to M-J!

If you take off the mufflers the bike will Blow Up. Don't do it.

Default Hello all not sure if I have properly introduced my self...

I'm David,
I reside in central Kentucky.

I'm old and I'm very enthusiastic about biking, however I am limited from a work related injury to be only an enthusiast as a result of my injuries of 2006.
(Can't ride horses either, can drive buggies!)

I've sold 1 of my 2 bikes. My other is soon to find a new home.

It's sad but I've come to deal with it, it's been really hard, thanks to effexor, I'm coping well! lol

I don't want to be a stranger!

Just talked to Mike at Beartooth in Montana, He says, " hi people"

Default Hi you all, Found a New 1985 Yamaha XJ700 Maxim

I need some hints in getting this bike road worthy. I know it needs new tires, tank and carbs cleaned out. The bike was stored dry, no battery,no oil, no gas, still fluid in brake master cylinder and tranny. I looked in the gas tank and it shows little rust spots. I am wondering what I should do to get the engine moving without tearing anything up? How should I get the carbs loaded? This bike has 500 miles on it, for real.....other than a little aluminum corrosion on the block and cracked/flaked off chrome on the plated plastic breather cover. This thing looks like a peach with a lot of dust on it from being stored for years. I'd love to take any suggestions.

Default Evenin', all!

Just on my way over to the Yamaha section but figured I'd stop in here first. I'm looking for some suggestions and advice on hard bags for my Roadliner.

Had a nice 3-state ride today - not hard here in New England. Started out in western Mass, cut over to the NY side of the Berkshires, up to Bennington VT, back down the Mass side of the Berkshires and home to the Pioneer Valley. Lots a motorcyclists encountered along the way.

Anyway, I look forward to words of sidom from you all.
