Default Nother noobie!

Hi, all!

I've already posted a coupla times on other forums, didn't see this.

I'm a 44 year-old married lady, with an 11 year-old daughter - who loves to ride behind on my 250 cc Honda Elite scooter (a classic '85, with 36K miles, and not many of them highway miles). I've been riding for just over 3 years, have taken the Motorcycle Safety Course (and have talked at least a dozen other people into it!), and commute to work any day it isn't pouring or snowing. I have a lot of bad hair days - not a pretty sight, with red hair - but always have a grin on my face when I pull into the lot at work!!!!!!!!

I work for the Navy in Norfolk, Virginia, as a structural engineer, just hit the 20-year mark. I think I first got my scooter as a mild mid-life crisis thing. Both my older brothers are BMW Airheads (it's some kind of wierd cult, involving strange tech tip rites and rallies in faraway places, I think!). So bikes are pretty much in my blood. It turned out to be something I really enjoy, just getting out there, and tooling around. I joined the forum because I recently saw, and fell in love with, the new V-Strom 650. But financially, it looks like I'll be tooling around town on that scooter for a long time to come . Still, you've go to have a dream. So I'll be hanging out, trying to soak up all I can, both pro and con,on Suzukis in general, and the new V-Strom in particular. So far, I've been really impressed with the general atmosphere on this site, and the with the people posting here!

WOW!!! What a site!!!

My son and I have been trying to sort out an '81 GS550 for a few months now. My brother in law gave it to me last summer and it had major problems. But, turned out to be the regulator. The carbs were a mess too. So, dismantled it and then promptly lost some of the parts and couldn't remember how it all went together.

But, with help from your site tonight we figured out our last little probs. HalleLuYa!!! Sorry, I am so fired up. I just came back from my first ride in 10 years or so.

To introduce myself I am 49yrs old. Soon to be 50! Aug 10 to be exact. Up until tonight I was feeling a bit old. Not no more!!!!! I can still ride a bike!!!

Oh, man what a thrill. LOL I am just too psyched.

I started riding in 1972 and my first bike was a Suzuki 380 . It was great. But, had to give it up for a family. Now, one of my boys is wanting to get his license. And of course, the wife wants to ride with me. I see probs. comeing with only one bike. Oh, well, the 'Ol Man gets first dibs.

Thanks again for this great site. Don't know if I will be able to contribute much, but you all have my blessings.

Now I just have to figure out how to put my fire gear on it. I am a wildland firefighter here in Montana and things are starting to cook up again.

Later,
Thanks again and again and again and......
Paul

Just joined today. Thought it was interesting place. I am a member of another message board geared mostly towards the Volusia.

Anyhow, I live in a small town north of Houston, TX.
I ride a 2003 Volusia, hubby has a 95 Kawasaki Voyager and I also have a 95 vs800. I will be trying to get a Burgman after the first of the year.

I have a 2 year old boy and I work full time as a mom and wife.

That's it. I am boring..I know....

I think a person who can handle a toddler and riding a motorcycle at the same point in life is anything but boring!!!! I think you must be a very, very interesting person. And brave beyond measure. Don't sell yourself short, you hear?

I agree with wavyredlaurie. I wish my Mom had a motorcycle when I was a kid!

Default Hello

This is new for me - sitting at a desk with time to waste. I'd definitely rather be out riding! Well, I can atleast talk about motorcycles and riding until its safe to leave!

I live in Southern California (gotta be some of the best canyon riding in the world) and I currently ride a 2003 GSXR1000.

First I'd like to say Hello to everyone. I don't get much time online due to work. I still haven't bought my first bike yet because I can't decide on a SV1000 or a Busa. Any recommendations?

neither. a busa is a sure fire way to commit suicide as your first ibke, and a sv100 is a little big. i HIGHLY recomend a gs500f. and you look around the forums and find stories about novice riders on big bikes.

This is a first, I'm going to agree with soad !.

Both too much bike for a first time rider, take msf then get a used bike with less than 60 hp for your first couple of seaons.
