Welcome Jim. Glad to have you around. As I sure you have noticed there is a lot to be learned from the experience behind many of the members. It has been a great resource for me figureing out tricks and answering questions since I am fairly new to the bike scene.

Thanks guys. This is my first bike. Rode a few dirt bikes when I was younger but not experienced by any stretch of the imagination. Took the MSF course, read both "Proficient Motorcycling" books and lots of info on here as well. Now I just gotta practice, practice, practice. Tough job but somebody's gotta do it huh ! Got my bike in November, have about 1,000 miles on it. Still need a lot of work on my slow speed manouvers, panic stops and such.

Hello all. After lurking around and researching various bikes, I went out yesterday and bought a '06 C50, blue and gray. I'm real excited about it. Its my first bike, and a birthday present to myself for turning 30 next week. I'm taking the MSF course tomorrow, and then can't wait to start practicing! Until then, I'm sitting here in my garage staring at it and dreaming.

Just thought I would say hi and thank you for all the information here, as it certainly played a big role in my decision to buy the C50.

I hear you! Everyday I am out practicing. I just broke 100 miles this week, and still need lots of practice. But I am continually getting more and more comfrtable, or like I have read many people say, having the bike become and exstension of me. Next task among more practice is to pass the driving test and get the license. Needless to say I am hooked and very excited of the adventures to come.

Jim and Jay
You will love the C50.

But I must warn you, hanging around here and ZukiDudeitest will get you.
Your bank account will dry up, your credit cards will be maxed out.

Enjoy and ride safe.

Well this looks like the place to stop by and say Hi. Just got started riding again this past fall after a 16 year break. I have a 2005 Katana and am enjoying every minute I get to ride.

Whats the deal with tese avatars? I have plenty of pic's that I can't get to be accepted. Do I need a certain number of posts or a specific file type (GIF, JPEG, BMP)?

Welcome Akapux. You avatars are probably too big. Resize them to 100 x 100 pixels and they should work. Good on ya for getting back on two wheels. Enjoy the site.

On that OEM bar you may have a problem with the bulbs, most change to another type, do a search I think it is 4411's, requires a change on connecter
ends. Some have just switched to Honda bulbs.

I have the ISO grips with throttle boss, highly recommend.
I also added K&N aircleaner and techclusion FI at first service, kept pipes stock and they sound good after 5,000 miles.

Blackie.... I appreciate the heads up on the lightbar. I read the threads about them and had almost decided to go aftermarket when my ife surprised me with it for Christmas so I'll keep it and change the bulbs later. I like the ISO grips better than the others I've looked at.

Speaking of Iso grips, I was about to start a thread on it, but has any had any vibration problems without the bar weights? I have heard it can be a problem.

This is an introduction thread. Do a search on Iso grips. It has been covered.

Hi All,
I took the safety course nearly two years ago and just bought my first bike. I found a great deal on an 03 Volusia with 2k miles. I have learned a lot from reading these posts and others.
Happy Trails!

Nola rider. Congrats on a new and exciting bike. What colour did you settle on? I'm impressed that inspite of all the difficulties in your area over the last year, life is getting back to normal. Enjoy a great bike, and a great forum.
