I'm a brand new member who is also a newbie rider. I just bought my first bike, a 2006 Boulevard C50. So far, it's great fun. I'm 44, and I've been mullng this over since I turned 40. This was not a rash decision or one taken lightly. We've been taking some private riding lessons, and we start the MSF course this coming Thursday night.

My wife is also a new member (Scribbles) and is also a newbie rider. She just bought a 2006 Boulevard S50.

We're excited about learning and we're happy to be part of this community.

I posted the same thing in the "what was your first bike" thread, so please accept my apology for any redundancies.

i kinda see why that one kid was upset that he wanted a C50 as a first bike and we all told him no...then here we dont say a word to people who say theirs is a C50 also...but you can just tell the level of maturity and responsibility is totally different...

just saying i kinda understand his point of view.

.
welcome Scribbles and Lancer!

What happened?I rode my old 1979 GS850 to the local Suzuki shop for a quick exhaust repair and rode out on a 2005 C50T Boulevard Cruiser. Now I can't stop grinning. It's like switching from a Jeep to a Cadillac.I love this bike.I am brand new to this forum and look forward to exhanging stories and info.

I think they put something in the air at the dealer. I went in looking at a skidded katana, and rode a Busa out. Maybe hypnotics, or subliminal messages over the intercom!

I think we said plenty. The difference is that these people had reasonable responses and are obviously willing to take responsibility for their safety, whereas he was just mouthy. But that's for another thread.

Welcome, Tommy!

hello to everyone out there in Suzuki cyberspace........great to meet you all.

I am a 45 year old male living in Sydney Australia and have been looking at getting into dirt bike riding with my young business partner for some time now.

We decided to get a cheap oldie to start with that we could each learn on and no doubt make some mistakes on as well.

I purchased an old dilapidated PE250 and restored it to its former glory over a 3 month period.

Finally we were ablke to ride the old girl and were instantly hooked.

After a few weeks we were so hooked it became obvious that 2 people into one bike just doesnt go.

We had previously owned a Suzuki Swift GTi and so were already huge Zooki fans and as such were not prepared to have any colour other than yellow in our house.

We then purchased an RM 250 1997 model and have been loving the chance to actually ride together.

Both of us have had a few gutsers already but nothing a few days rest didnt fix and its all in good fun.

Love the forum and I can see myself spending many happy hours chatting away here.

Keep smiling all.

Did you take the MSF clas, or the Rider's Edge class? If it was Rider's Edge class, then it was the same class that Lancer and I took. If not, you may have been in a better class???

I have an S50, and like it so far. I only have 58 miles on it so far, but so far so good. I rode to work today, and a couple of the people at work really liked the bike, too. We got our bikes at ASK on the east side.

It is good to meet you!

Susan

Hey, Zooki, what year is the PE? My dad had one in the early 80's. I have fond memories of being scared by that thing as a child.

Its a 1980 model.

When I got it the muffler was actually off an old Harley......stamped with the Harley Davidson Motorcycle corporation and logo.......lol. We didnt change it at that point as it was not crucial to the bikes safety or ability to be ridden.

At that stage a mates 185 was almost keeping up with us.

Having gained some experience riding and becoming more confident it was time to put a muffler that wasnt goi9ng to restrict the flow on.

Wow, what a difference.........I will be honest and say that it scared the crapper out of me. This thing is a weapon.

Comparative with the RM, its pretty much the same for 1st and 2nd but then the RM gains a bit.

Yep its a scary bike..........lol........well certainly for me when I wasnt expecting that much improvement.

But so much fun and comfort level leaves the RM for dead.

Scribbles, I took the MSF class(not Riders Edge) I've been looking a S50 at ASK on the east side. A friend of mine bought a used Honda from them with no problems, so I think I'll buy from there. Thanks for the reply about the S50. It will be my first bike, just want to get a good one.

Hey guys ! Just couldn't resist the M50 at such a great price. Been hanging around the Corvette Forum for many years now and hope to get as much out of this Forum as I do the other.

Dug,

The folks at ASK are great. We were in the store several times before buying, and they were very patient and nice about all of our questions.

Good luck!

Hello from San Jose, CA
I put 22K on my SV650 and sold it to buy my 2003 V-strom 1000. I loved the little monster but am overjoyed at the verstility and power of the Strom. Sold my Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 Classic two weeks ago and now have only one bike in the garage for the first time in a long time. Might just have to replace the Vulcan with a 1600 Marauder next year to fill the need for maximum torque, or a DRZ400 to cater to my dirt side. I've owned about 8 Suzukis over the years and as soon as I sell one I always end up looking for another.
See ya on the road...
