Hi. I recently purchased a 1994 GSX-R 1100. It needs work (2nd gear shift fork, I'm told) so any advice/websites would be appreciated. In the meantime, I found this forum through Google and am looking forward to some good conversation.

Hi, another forum newbie.

By way of introduction, my name is Michael, and I hail from the great land "down under" (hence the sig). I'm 38 and have been riding 'bikes for about 17 years, on and off. I've been lucky enough to own some very nice machines during that time, including my favourite, a 2000-model injected CBR1100XX. (Had to sell that due to work reasons at the time )

My current mount is a 1996-model RF900R, which I picked up a couple of months ago for just over $6000AUD, with less than 8000kms on the clock from new! It's certainly not the latest or greatest, but given that we paid cash for it, and it's condition (not to mention the fact that, out of the box, they apparently do mid-10 second quarters and around 260KPH), I'm reasonably happy with the thing. Best of all, I can get around at quite reasonable pace (1 or 2-up) without pushing the bike at all, which bodes well for it's longevity.

Anyway, enough of my ramblings. Once again, Hi!

All this year I had the urge for a bike. Found this forum and after 25 years I bought a 04 Maurder 800 from a dealer. It had 2k miles on it and the asking of $4k did not seem bad. I had the dealer delever it as some time has past and it was a bigger than the GS450L I last had. The riding is coming back slowly but the nine days of rain are over and I can ride again. This is a good all around forum and I'm picking up alot of good info.

Hey guys,
I never really said hey to everybody, so hey! I'm 40....something,and was riding dirt bikes before I could drive, had a kawi cruiser back in the 80's. So Im kinda old school. So I will probably post some dumb questions. The bikes we had back then didn't have all the suspension adjustments, fuel injection, computers... that bikes have now. Anyhoo, I like both cruisers and sport bikes. Wish I could have one of each! Right now, busa. That's a picture of it in my avitar if you can make it out.

Default Hello from a real newbie

Hello,

I am new to the motorcycle idea, and new to this group. My husband and I had been talking about getting cycles for a couple of years, and finally decided to get moving! We are both taking the MSF course through a local dealership (not Suzuki), and have deposits on new motorcycles that we will pick up this week. He is getting a C50, and I have a deposit on an S40. We are very excited, and look forward to learning about motorcycles and Suzuki!

Susan

How Do!
Just registered on your site after reading some of the forum.I really enjoyed an old entry from Uncle Bob re GSXR600 as a first bike for newbies.Just for the record , I agree w/ BOB. Anyway- Been home for the past couple days w/ the flu and found your site(and it made my day) Been riding since 1974 - street riding since 79. Still get the rush when I find that perfect line.Just bought a mint little KAT last month. I think that I might keep this one for at least a year this time. Its not a bad little bike.

My first post. Okay, let's see. As of yet I have yet to sit down on a motorcycle. Did some ATV'ing in my teen years with a Honda 250R that is currently moth balled, and that's about it. I'm 29 now, married with a 5 year old son, and looking for something to get me out of the house once in awhile and feel alive. I feel like I am wasting my best years NOT doing something exciting like riding. The thought of riding has always been in the back of my mind, but also back there was the fear of getting creamed on the road. Finally though my urge is overcoming my fear. I am taking my MSF next weekend, and hopefully not long after that I will be picking up a used bike. Been reading up like a madman in the meantime, wiped my local bookstore clean of anything related to motorcycle education. Of course the reason I'm here is because I've always had a very soft spot for the Intruder 800, ever since I spied it almost 10 years ago in a showroom. I'm not sure if this is an appropriate starter or not (the opinions on what makes a good starter vary wildly I have learned), but I can't imagine myself on a 250. I'm a big guy, not tall, 5'8", but I do weigh 240 lbs. so I need something that will not mind the extra heft and even an occasional passenger in the form of my wife (after I gain some proficiency of course), something I can hang onto a while and grow with, and also look cool I will be honest. So that's about it. I hope to spend a lot more time here in the future, thanks!
