Default New member, soon to be new rider...

Hi Everybody!

I'm from Ottawa and from what I see there's quite the contingent of us on this forum already! I have an account on the Ottawa board too but have yet to post.

I'm taking my MSF course with the Ottawa Safety Council in two weeks and I can't wait! I've purchased my helmet (HJC CL-SP) and for budgetary reasons I'll be using leather gardening gloves (sexy, I know...) and paramedic boots (again, with the sexiness, not so much...) and a thick leather jacket I had previously... Though I really like the look of the ICON white leather jacket... Nice!

So for now, I'm looking for a nice used bike... Looking at the Bandit500F, SV650S, the EX500 and/or 250...

Sigh... Waiting sure does suck!

there's one or two bikes on sale now on the ottawa forum, aren't there?

bring LOTS of water to the course if the weather is gonna be warm! and make sure your shoes are VERY comfy, since you'll be walking around in them all freakin' day long...

Thanks for the tips Greg... I'll for sure be bringing tonnes of water since my jacket is black, I'm gonna be a sun magnet!

As for a bike, I'm not in a huge rush as finances are tight at the moment (separating from my wife, cash crunch... Y'know...) but as soon as some gets freed up, I'm looking at the SV650S, Bandit500F, or an EX500, 250... Any of those beginning type bikes!

Welcome iam. You have a good list of first bikes, but you may have some difficulty in finding a Bandit 500, let alone one with an F at the end. Perhaps you meant a GS500?

LOL

Indeed! Yes, while I like the Bandit650, maybe the GS500F is a better choice...

suzuki has a new fully-faired bandit knock-off, i think it's called a GS650F.
