Default New female rider

Hi Everyone,

I just recently bought my first bike, a 2007 Suzuki GS500F. Having never ridden before i asked for some advice while visiting the 2007 Toronto motorcycle show. This bike was recommended to me by a number of people, considering i'm a new rider and that i'm also a women. So far I have had a blast! I'm out riding when ever i can weather depending. Have not yet ventured out in the rain! I must say the bike handles extremely well, however it does get very heavy when trying to do a fast speed manuver while going slowly! Yes you got it!! Thats how i droped and cristened my bike. Hardly any thing damaged except my ego as i couldn't get the bike up on my own and needed the help of a nice passerby!

Other than that i find i am learning new things everyday and my confidence in handling the bike improves with every day!

I'm totally addicted and will forever be a biker chick!

Thanks,
Gina

Hi Gina,

Most anyone can ride fast. The sign of a good rider is someone who can maneuver the bike at slow speeds. Read Proficient Motorcycling. Practice. Ride. Practice more. Enjoy.

Welcome Gina,

My first bike was a GS500 (before the GS500F), I enjoyed many hours riding all over the state.

Ride Safe

Welcome, of course being in Canada means it will take you twice as long to get the same amount of riding time in as those of us in the southern part of North America.

Welcome aboard. And to use the old "Anamaniacs" line "Helloooooooo Nurse!"

But honestly, my first bike was a cb 350. Then to a Yamaha xs 750. Then to a Honda cb 750.

The GS500 should be enough bike for you; for awhile anyway.

Welcome Gina, nearly all of us have dropped a bike and usually it is the low speed stuff that get you, sounds like parking lot practice time. The way you tell the difference between a rider and a squid is how they handle the twisties and the parking lot. Anyone can twist a throttle. Sounds like you are well on your way to getting the skills needed.

ride safe
