Default Hello from SW Michigan

Hello everyone. My wife and I are avid riders, and love to cruise all over michigan. Have been reading the boards and it seems like a nice place to get answers and share tips/tricks. I ride an 01 Suzuki Marauder 800, and my wife rides a 03 1400 Intruder. Yeah, hers is bigger than mine, but I dont have a complex about it! She upgraded her bike from a 650 savage starter bike, and we got a great price on her bike in chicago. I am upgrading this year to a bigger bike, in time for Sturgis I hope. We are riding out for the fun of it with some friends. I upgraded the bike to some slash cut COBRA slip on mufflers. They sound great. Also i converted the bike to BELT drive using a kit from an online company. If you have a marauder, you have to make this change to belt! Recently I removed the PAIR valve using a kit, and like the look of the bike without it. I am soon going to add forward controls and some new grips, pegs to the bike. Thanks!

Nice bikes. Just keep telling her "size doesn't matter"

Is this going to be your first trip to Sturgis? If so, talk to some people that have been there a few times before you go, it can be a real shock if you don't know what to expect, and I'm not just talking about the obvious things, like nudity, drugs, and the one percenters.

If you have some time in June, you might want to join up with the Motorcycle Journal group that is meeting in Gutenberg Tennessee to ride the Tail of the Dragon again. Look in the "events/rides" section, and check out "2007 Ride days"

Welcome to the forum, presently the wife does not ride but is attending a riding school in June. Then she will make up her mind. Keep it upright.

Default thanks for the Info!

Rickster, Thanks for the heads up, but I have been on it for about a year now. This is a trip for the guys only, and we got a crew of 12 or so going together. I have been looking at the best way to get in and out of the STURGIS bike rally unscathed, so thanks for the concern. We want to just go for the ride, plus I plan to visit my daughter in colorado during a sidetrip. Take care!

Welcome D Rex! I live in a place that has a lot to offer for motorcyle riding now, but I used to call Grand Rapids, MI home. To this day, Wilderness State Park is my favorite motorcycle destination, and the scenic route between Mackinaw City and Petosky is my favorite ride. There's a lot of great riding in Michigan.

Default The Tunnel OF trees

We rode the tunnel of trees between petosky and the bridge last summer, on our way to the UP. I loved it.
