Default Worn tire warning

Got about 1500 miles on my back tire (M1 Sportec) and it needed replacing before yesterdays ride, but it had been two weeks since I rode and the weather looked like it wouldn't be to great for a few days. Besides I needed another lottery ticket....yes NC STILL don't have one; so off to SC I go promising myself take it easy and stay off the edge of the tire and I'd be fine

It looked worse than it was because I hit the camera but it still got my attention,
Even got rained on(more like dumped on) before I got home, that was fun with a slick backtire

I bet some would say that this is a "don't get on the gas too early" warning.

1500 miles?! All at the track, or what?

didn't really get that crazy with the throttle and wasn't carring a lot of lean angle when it spun up.
1500 miles all on the road, I only live about 80 miles from Deals Gap and blessed with great roads in between

??? None, been riding street bikes about 12 years and have only wreaked once (Knock on wood) in 99 and that was caused by hitting a Collie

OK, I stand corrected. There is a good reason to play the lottery!

As much as I enjoy your videos, 1500 miles on a rear is rather low, you sure no wheelies in there, or burnouts. Is that one tire a month or every 2 weeks.
Maybe you should slow down and check the view.

Taking it easy??? I saw 89mph on the speedometer and 72 exiting the corner, on what looked like a 35 to 40 mph corner. Glad things wernt worse.

Whoa, hold on there, cowboy.

I am in the market to purchase some M1 Sportecs, but I'm glad I searched and came across this post. 1500 miles on the rear?! I would probably ride that in 6 weeks or so. Is the life expectancy of the Sportecs really that low? I have heard otherwise...

It really depends on the bike and roads and how you ride, My last bike (a 99 zx-9r) I usually got about 2500-3000 miles out of the tires. But with the bike I got now (04 ZX-10R) I only get about 1500 to 1800 miles

+ most of the roads I ride on are very curvy similar to Deals Gap

It's still a great tire, It sticks great and gives a lot of feel and feed back
