| Way back when, researchers actually built square pistons and cylinders and made them out of transparent plexiglass to observe this very phenomenon.

| Forever in the blink of an eye  Water retention strength is amazing really. I've seen some neat tricks using water retention.

| I guess I assumed it was inertia more than anything. The balloon's retraction is super quick.
