I crashed when I was a teen, on my scooter, only had my helmet since I had no clue at 15 and 16 years old. 3 crashes.

1) 15 years old, brand new Honda Aero 50. Going about 50km/h on a gravel road, initiate mild curve, feel I am going too fast, panic... front brake. 'Nuff said.

2) Same scooter, going up a slope in a park (no bikes allowed) to get to where other buddies on scooters are, get to the top, front lifts way up, give more gas, lean slightly to the right. 'Nuff said

3) EDIT: Just remembered. Same scooter. Going to final math exam with friend on his BMX. He hitches a ride from my right shoulder, he gets too close, bars cross and his bike gets pulled under the scooter. He is ejected violetly to the right and flies to the side of the road where he misses a stop sign(?) by a few feet. Unfortunately for me the BMX went under the mid section of the scooter and the rear tire got popped up as if it were on a bomb. This equals to me being launched like Superman, over the handlebars. I flew higher than I would like to admit and farther than I ever want to without a very large air matress to catch me. I landed very much unlike Superman with my wrists and knees taking the brunt of it. NOTE TO NEWBIES... PAVEMENT HURTS LIKE HELL EVEN AT 50km/h!!!

Never crashed my first motorcycle (Kawa EX500), but came very, very close to seeing the angels. I must have had one with me that day. This is all 20+ years from my scooter days and 12+ from my first motorcycle. I pray I don't crash my M50, but I am prepared for the fact that it can happen. I will be p*ssed and swear like a 2$ whore who was just slapped in the face by a client, but I am prepared.

I have crashed many times on my old dirt bike when living in So. Cal. Kind goes with the territory. In 1982 I was side swiped by a car trying to pass me in a residential neighborhood. I was too dumb at the time to use mirrors otherwise I would have seen the idiot coming. Wearing zero gear but luckily I landed in a grassy yard. No road rash, no broken bones, no brain spillage. Just scared the crap out of me, pissed me off, etc.. Now I always ride with most gear. Helmet (brain bucket) I really want to get a full face soon, gloves, steel toe high riding work boots, denim jacket and will get the leather jacket soon as well. So, on the street I have not crashed in 25 years but on every ride I see it coming, one day closer.

I crashed when I was 17. I was on a little Honda rebel. Me and my friend were out and about, neither of us had licenses. We went back to a middle school for some curves, and my inexperience got the best of me. I came around the corner to hot and locked up the rear brakes, at the time I didn't even realize the usefulness of the front ones. So I locked up, could have recovered but the curb beat me to it. I ended up smashing my foot between the bike and the curb, and rolled under a guard rail. I ended up having to get some pins in my foot and was out for 6 or 7 months. No fun.

An old retired cop I know told me stories about going to bar fights back in the day and they would just walk in the front and back doors and put a round in the shotgun. That was all it took to calm things down.

I know it's an old thread, but I love his stories and like to share....
