Thumbs up I feel safer in full face helm...

1. Make:HJC
2. Model:CL-15
3. Approximate price paid:$109.00 USD
4. Approximate age of helmet (in months):Less than 1 month

IMO; the wind noise is minimal.
The face shield is a plus.
The helmet is nice, yet I think I got what I paid for.

Snafu,

How did you get that helmet for that price? Inquiring minds want to know.

I am due for a new helmet. I love mine, but it is over 10 years old. I went to my favorite store to pick out a modern equivalent of mine, and the bleeping thing is 500 bucks! That stinks! I mean, if it saves my life, it's worth it, but there are DOT approved helmets for 50 bucks... Is there really that big a difference between an ARAI and a no-name-brand?

rough topic to start up on again. biggest part of the arguement is SNELL vs DOT. it could go on for days.

Personally, racers use SNELL approved helmets and do much more than I do on the street. justification enough for me. I would think at some point it becomes a name and style and comfort thing over safety (as far as pric range goes)

somewhere i read that racers only use SNELL because it's a verifiable 3rd party tester, unlike DOT which is 'an honor system by the manufacturer'. i've also read that the SNELL tests, while nice and popular, are overkill and result in helmets that are TOO tough and transmit too much shock to the head during impact. anyways, after having read about the tests and some of SNELL's own responses / positions, i personally don't care about SNELL certification - they can go suck a raw egg out of a chicken.

now, back to the thread:

OLD HELMET
Make: HJC
Model: CL-12
Price paid: around $150 Cdn
Age of helmet: around 6 years
Opinion: not happy - loud, not aerodynamic, visor doesn't close well, visor flips up on its own when i shoulder-check on the highway, no way to secure free end of chin strap, etc.

NEW HELMET
Make: KBC
Model: VR-2
Price paid: around $300 Cdn
Age of helmet: less than a week
Opinion: love it - snug fit, visor is secure, doesn't shift or catch wind at highway speeds, chin curtain, good vents, strap clip, etc

Ebay!

I'm afraid to admit I spend too much time on there looking for gear or things for the bike. I recently got a Joe Rocket Sonic perforated jacket and a pair of Joe Rocket Razor gloves.

Thumbs up It's quite comfortable..

1. Make: KBC Full face
2. Model: TK 77
3. Approximate price paid: $39 on closeout(normally $100)
4. Approximate age of helmet (in months): 2
It felt quite tight when I first started wearing it,but I think it may have been that my older Bell helmet was so loose. The old Bell Vetter had very little padding.
