Yes, ~2 months ago
The poll needs an option for just plain "Yes", as
both "Yes" answers doesn't apply to me.

I took the Basic a little over a year ago and if it'd quit [insert colorful adjective here] raining, I could take the Experienced course.

Kehau, you're hawaiian, aren't you? I've been to Hawaii many times ... it rains there every day. Why are you getting uptight about that now? Hang Loose, Babe!

I had to answer #3, but it's been less than a year than I did both.

Uhm..yeah, I'm Hawaiian but I'm not in Hawai`i, Moody AFB is in southern GA. As for raining every day in Hawai`i ~ eh, 'dat depends on where you are.

When I was 19, took the basic course. I'm having great difficulty finding either course offered during the week in my area, I work weekends, and only have one more "vacation" allowed this year. I've called all the community colleges w/in about 150miles of the house, and so far no go.

Yes, when I was in high school. I even got a credit for it. Was a cool way to use up a otherwise studyhall. I am taking another come here thursday. Its what they are calling an advanced motorcycle safety course. I'm doing it mainley for the insurance break. That and here in PA the sate offers them for free. All you need is at least your permit, gloves and boots. They provide every thing else, including bike........

I never took the course. I started riding about 30 years ago and can't recall if they had it then. Maybe I will someday since I'm a little curious to find out if I really know as much as I could - or should.

Being Canadian it was not MSF but B.C. Safety Council Course, which involved one Friday night and then 2 weekends. One for basics followed by one for street. Basic week end was 2 hrs of classes on Friday. Sat was 4 hrs of riding 4 hrs of classes with videos, Sunday was 4 hrs of riding 4 hrs of classes. Exams followed the riding portion and a written exam followed the classes.
The street portion was 8 hours of riding on Sat, 4 hours of riding followed by a street exam where you were followed by an examiner on a bike over the streets. To take the course you were required to have a leaners permit, the basics gave you a restricted novice permit, which meant you can ride on city roads without a class 6(motorcycle Lic.) rid ing with you. Passing the street portion atom. gave you a class 6 Lic.
5 Riders to an instructer, 20 riders to a class. They thin out the people on the first Friday nite session. Some they tell to go home and ride a bicyle for awhile.
I had been riding for 6 years when I took this course. We had exp. riders, novice riders, dirt riders. It was fun.

Not really applicable to me.
All I know about over here are the advanced courses.

I just realized that I didn't comment my vote. I chose "take refresher every year"

MSF in 2003
ERC in 2004
ERC planned in 2005

The Ottawa Safety Council, who manage the ERC, hold the course is my employer parking lot. Free for the employee. Might as well take advantage of it no?
