I've riden since April 2005.
About 2,500 miles total (400 on the first bike a Virago 250, 2,100 on the C50).

I say I'm getting better because I have a ways to go. I'd say I'm comfy, but I have not even ridden in the rain yet. Most of my miles are commuter, but I have done a handful of 2-3 hour trips.

I took the MSF course a year ago, and read Houghs books. But there's always room to grow.

ok then, it would have to be "getting better" this K1 is my second bike, having had the first one sent to bike heaven for me by a so-called-mate who rear ended me one afternoon.

I did pass my test first time, but i fluked it trust me. 2 years now, probably 5000 miles, so yes i'd say getting better is a fair assesment.

Not sure I was ever average (although I doubtlessly was...). I’ve had a few moments over the decades when I tried to do the 10/10ths thing – usually becoming one with the asphalt in the process... Now I ride at about 3-4/10ths, but the results haven’t changed markedly... what’s wrong with this picture.

Anyone who voted themselves near the 100% mark obviously has not been riding long enough. There is always more to learn.

Just an opinion, but it happens to be correct.

I've been riding on and off for twenty years, did a racing course, on my 6th bike and have ridden over 60K kilometres. I consider myself to be a good rider and capable of knee dragging but only at the track.

Average. I benefitted from some of the lessons I've learned, knowing that I have more to learn before I move on to a bigger(better) bike. Each time I go out I learn something new. Most recently (bound to happen) riding in the rain. I was prepared, didn't make it any easier.
Next month will be one year with 4300 miles on a 02 Savage.

Still green. Bought Emma in June 06 started riding her in July, got hit(not my fault) in August. Have almost 2000 miles in that time.

i put myself as an average rider as though i think im a good rider, so do most of the schmucks out there. I know i have room to improve, and am trying to do something about it.

been riding 3.5+ yrs, 5 bikes, no crashes, one blown up motor, rest were upgrades. 42kkm (26k miles).

With going up in bikes it's all been "capacity" upgrades, 250 (blown up) -> 250 -> 450 ->750 ->900. and i can quite safely say that i've mostly taken a stready upgrade path handling wise (though i do admit that 450 was a bit of a mistake!)

Why do all that work?

My upgrade path was much shorter
- 50ccm (10 years, 17k km),
- 125ccm (2 years, 7k km)
- 1400ccm (2 years so far, 18k km)

financials for the most part, i didntjump to a 900 directly cause my ex thought i'd kill myself doubling the capacity of my bike. silly woman. id be as likely tokill self on the 750 as the 900. i only just went to the 900 due to a new job that gave me the sufficient extra cash to do so

I originally said I was Average...but after the foggy ride in this morning...I might have to upgrade my status and then get that Big Red "S" tattoo on my chest.

Only problem with thinking like superman, is that cars are my kryptomite.

Been riding for 1 year, still on my first bike. 5k+ mi in rain and shine, from DC metro traffic and West VA twisties. I'd say I'm getting better.

Thumbs up

I'm probably an apex strafer. I've only been riding motorcycles since June...riding horses most of my life. The fundamental body position is very similar so I think that is why it came easy to me. I can be a little agressive at times. That helps me deal with the daily commute. Close to 3000 mi to date and on my 2nd bike. That's not alot but I'm still learning every day!

4 months riding and learning every day. Spend a lot of time reviewing the skills in my safety course on my front street and I'm a very very cautious rider everywhere else. In fact I only ride with one other person, group rides concern me because I feel like everyone is taking off and leaving me in the dust.

Perhaps they missed the lesson that group rides mean looking out for all in the group, not just yourself.

In all honesty it takes a good couple of years to start feeling settled in with yourself riding. Everytime you hop on a new bike thereafter theres a couple months of bedding in again as well, at least that's my experience..

Cool I chose (apex strafer)

I have been riding since I was 16,but very limited at that age(my brothers Honda CB 160). I got my first bike when I was 26 a 1978 Honda Hawk TII twin..15,000 miles on that one, which I still have in Michigan(awesome little fun bike with a 10,000 redline). Second bike was Yamaha 650 Special I put about 1,000 miles on before I sold it,then a long break until I bought my M50 in May 2006 I currently have 12,225 miles on Bluzuki. my last trip was last Sat. down to the Columbia River National Scenic By-way 475 miles round trip. I still learn things everyday and hope I never stop learning. I LOVE TO RIDE.
