Granted, I've only had the bike for a week, but other than the initial 600 mile service, I will be doing all the work myself. I do it for my truck, why not the bike!?

I lube my chain and change the oil (recently started). Other items are done by my stealer...I mean dealer!

You have to do a fair amount of work on your own bike otherwise you'll spend more $ maintaining the bike than what you paid for it.

I'm still learning all that needs to be done with my bike, so far it's been pretty easy to do. Maybe when I have enough karma to do so, I'll work on my engine's insides and clear out any bad cholesterol that may be stuck in there... not very good with carbs though... did it once and failed.

Yep. Git yer hands off it, thank you very much.

Seriously, the biggest problem I have is finding someone who is good, AND that I can trust. So I just do it myself, or with the help of a fellow rider if it's something I haven't done before, and I'm unsure of it going in....

Do everything but major enjine work, oil changes, valve adjust, install accessories, etc. If I ain't got the tools then I got an excuse to buy them. Won't do tires though, hell to bust offa rims, rather pay the $25 bucks and let the shop do it.

Cant wait till she hits 24,000km, (7,000km to go) then I can play. The dealer here is very good, when I bought her new I also prepaid the services upto 24,000km saving 30% with a loan bike during servicing. Always done all the repairs services etc to cars and bikes. Hopefully I will be still able to ride when she hits the big 30. So I have to tick the 4th one for now.

I'm no bike mechanic, but I've done everything from oil changes, cable replacement, light leveling... I've recently debaffled the pipes, removed the pair valve, and as soon as I get my powercommander I'm removing the air box on my C50 and going tot he uni filter under the tank. I may not know alot but my bike is my hobby. Its become an important part of my life, however strange that may sound. letting someone else work on my bike is like letting someone else fix my life... It won't fly. If it needs to be fixed, I'll research it and do it myself

Don't think of it as being cheap, it just saves you money so you can do more rides...
