My 13 year old daughter just got certified for CPR and the DeFib. Holy Crap!

I'm glad they didn't try to have me use a defib at that age...I would have been juicing people left & right at 13. God, what an idiot I was growing up.

The defibs we have at work walk you through the process, and determine the jolt! It is pretty foolproof. I do believe that is todays standard!

I first learned as an Army cadet in 1987-1992. Then again in 1992-1995 as a reserve army 2nd Lieutenant. Then again as a regular RAF infantry officer from 1995-1998.
When I moved over here in 1999 I got CPR certified to work as a counselor for a youth organization and stayed current while I continued to work with them. The last time I did CPR training was just before our 2nd baby was born - we added the infant CPR to the training too.
The principles remain the same - the details have changed over the years. (4 to 1 vs 15 to 2)

I remember using a wind up generator to zap people unsuspectingly in physics classes. I too was that idiot in school!

Every year beings my 2 jobs require it. 1-Department of Emergency Services and 2-partime Law Enforcement, as well as a volunteer firefighter for 26 years. "For some reason I just keep hearing sirens in my head"!

I have to take it every two years along with first responder refresher courses. Fortunately (knock on wood) I haven't had to use it in the last five or six years! Hope I don't have to!

As a police officer I had to be a 1st responder. Never has to use it except for once but it was not for long. The volunteer firefighters/EMS showed up really quickly.
