Thumbs up

Cruiser to Sport-Touring, would never go back. I actually feel slightly cheated by my cruiser experience but it was a good way to learn, I guess. You sure as heck need to understand how countersteering works on the cruiser when you have the fight that sucker around a corner. Sport/sportier bikes are more like flying a fighter jet, you just point it and go like hell!

I started on a 600 Honda Shadow VLX by the advice of my father, an experienced rider, to learn and get a feel for the bikes and the roads. After trying deperately to keep up with him on the highway (the VLX only had a 4 speed so it was hard pressed at highway speeds) i decided i needed an upgrade. Went to a bike show and sat on a few aggressive sport bikes, CBR's, Gixxers, Ninja's, etc but they felt to far forward for me to be able to ride comfortably for any great distance. Then i found it. Sat on a 01 Yamaha FZ-1. Loved it!! More upright than the typical sport bike but much more aggressive than the cruisers. Did twice the mileage with the new ride in half the time of the cruiser because i feel much more comfortable on the FZ than the cruiser. I'll probably stay with the sport-cruiser type for awhile maybe the FJR 1300 next to incorporate some luggage.

you'd have to add another category or make multiple selections available for me
i went from cruiser -> sports -> touring. Given the initial design of the gpx750 (ninja zx750f series) was sports, and was later relegated to s/t i sort of fit in an oddball category.

It would be a Husaberg FS650E Supermotard. But I have to say, I wouldn't own it as my ONLY bike. As I can't afford two bikes at the moment, I will still have to dream about it.

I switched from '06 GSXR 1000 to '06 Vulcan 900 Classic LT. My first sportbike was the '89 GSXR 750. I was stationed in Germany when I bought it. The autobahn could not have been made for anything else. So, as you can guess the transition from sportbike to cruiser was very difficult. Not to mention changes made in riding postures. Plus side? Two up is much more fun if the girls are comfortable...

Started with a little cruiser.

Changed to sport.

Now I am thinking about getting another cruiser

Dirt to cruiser/standard to dirt to sport/standard. '83 RM-80 (8yrs), '85 GN-250 (2yrs), '87 RM-250 (6mo), '07 EX250 (3wks?). I still have the last two and am planning on buying a second ex250 in the next year (an older one) to convert into a purely track bike.

2 years = 3 changes

Aprilia Scooter to C50T
C50T to HD Street Glide

I think I've drained all my motorbike purchasing power for a while. No regrets, the smile just keeps getting bigger.

Close! But the Aprilia Scooter to the Harley is hardly same genre. However they all do have 2 wheels and a kickstand. In that case I suppose you are right!
