| Morning all, Newbie needs more advice/ opinions. Although I live in So California, I'm in the high desert around 3500 ft & often don't see temps over 55 in the winter. That combined with normally windy days usually keeps us off the bike. Now , be nice, I know that's nothing for many of you. Being new to the street, I was curious as to what you guys & girls who ride in the coldest of weather recommend, please include product name? I'm not bothered on my Quad riding in the dirt because you're working up a sweat & not moving as fast, but cruising down the street for me gets pretty cold. Thanks! |

| Several layers. You need something like a windbreaker-type material. Many motorcycle jackets include such a liner. I wear a heat exchanger face wrap (with the guts removed) to keep the wind off my neck. Do you own a keyfor? |

| ..yeah... you deserve some heckling for that one.... but a lot of us ride well below that and would love your conditions! I am heading out this morning for a PGR ride and it is 26 deg out. The key is layers to trap air against your skin and good gloves / hand protection from the windblast. Try searching by these and similar words and combinations... there are SO many options and things that help....and they have all been discussed here..... ...hand warmers, heated gloves, cold weather, electric, gauntlets, hippo hands, deflectors, throttle lock, heated grips, etc.....

| Just Won't Go Away ! ![]() | *smacks Tim for circling the new guy* As landry said its about layers. If i'm going to be riding in the cold for an extended period of time I'll generally wear long underwear under my my gear. I'll wear a thin stocking hat under my helmet too if its really cold. |

| Hi REDLINE, I live in Canyon Country and travel down to North Hollywood at 3am. So some mornings it can get down into the 30's. I wear T-shirt, long sleeve turtle neck thermal, TourMaster 3/4 length jacket with zip in liner. If it is below 40 degrees I also wear a woolen sweater under the TourMaster jacket. I also wear thermal pants, jeans and then TourMaster Jean armor pants. Finished off with a turtle fleece balaclava, full face helmet and winter gloves. Figer tips can get a little cold but otherwise I am feeling fine when I get to work. As the guys have said, layer up and you need good under clothes to trap the warm coming off your body. Allowing it to escape will not keep you warm. |

| Hey allen4169, I do actually head that direction from time to time VIA Bouquet Canyon & Lake Hughes. I stay away from the 14 though....makes me feel like I'm going to work. I'll take your advice on that. Thanks for all the tips & hints.......Especially the one on fishing from Dale!!!!!

| Hey, your welcome. Good riding. But it does get a little colder up in Acton than Canyon Country. I come through the back of Acton when I ride up to Angeles Crest. I go Soledad Canyon, Aliso Canyon, Angeles Forest, and then on the Angeles Crest up to Newcombs Ranch. Takes about an hour and a half from Canyon Country to Newcombs Ranch. See ya.

| Muscle Biker ![]() | In the colder times, I'll wear: - Long-sleeve thermal undershirt - Fleece jacket - IXS all-weather Gore-Tex riding jacket - All-weather Gore-Tex riding gloves - Long thermal underwear - All-weather Gore-Tex riding pants - Datona leather/Gore-Tex riding boots - My Schuberth S1 full-face helmet with a balaclava underneath - A bandana or similar covering my neck That said ... my bike is parked at the moment. I don't ride when there is a risk that the roads may be icy. My house sits on a hill at about 1,600 feet above sea level, so icy roads are pretty common in the mornings between November and March . . . so I just hop in my Audi, crank up the music and enjoy the heated seats and quattro all-wheel drive.

| Throttle Jockey ![]() | I won't ride in temps below 40F. I hate the cold. I hate being cold. That said, layers. Just like everyone, except the shark, was saying.

I don't like cold weather either, when I speak of layering, it's usually a long sleeve shirt over a T-shirt.

| Hi all, Now that I have compiled a list & have some brands to check out, I guess my Sunday will be taken up, thank you all!! Always best to get your info from those who use the products than those who only sell them. Newcombs Ranch is a nice ride Allen, about 45-55 minutes for me. I'm on Santiago rd north of the freeway. Inspiron, nothing like heated seats even out here. Of all the Audi's my wife & kids have been through, the only we had that didn't have them was my old beater '86 4000 that I bought used. They were an option even back then!! One can't appriciate them until they have tried them. If I can ever be of help to you on your Audi, you can e-mail me @ russ@beverlyhillsaudi.com. I'm not to fond of the cold myself nor am I comfortable feeling resticted under a ton of clothing, but for my wife & I, riding is our new relaxation time. |

| Muscle Biker ![]() | Well, I don't think you can be of much help, since getting it to you would cost a bit much. I live in Basel-Land, Switzerland (47.4493, 7.76536)... FWIW, I've got a 2007 A3 Sportback quattro 2.0 TDI with diesel particle filter. I've put about 20,000 miles on it in just over a year...

| No, I caught location.....was thinking accessories, questions & so on. We love A3's w/ a DSG, what a blast. Not looking forward to deisel again though even with the improvements. I hear they run good, about a year until we see them.

| Hi PhotoJoe, All those posts & no bike!!! I Know your area, almost bought Hot Rod Hobbies when it was still known as Fast Lanes. The 14 was a nightmare....was getting pushed backwards in my truck!! If you're looking for a new bike, you might try L.A. CycleSports in Inglewood. I tried to support my local dealer these guys beat the price by $1350.00!! |

| I've heard good things about them from MANY people. I agree, both of our shops out here are owned by the same family, and are both really expensive. I'm not buying yet because the kids need braces and our photography business is way down. So, starting a new job plus doing photography and making sure we don't lose the house. Family first, toys second. So, I hang out here learning all I can. I've already taken the MSF over at COC, but will take it again before I buy. My day will come, but only when it's right. Until then, I'll learn all I can here!
