Anyone tried this gear? Cameleon Apparel is female specific. Crash-Pads is gender neutral and was originally developed for skate and cycle sports by a female roller-blader after she got tired of the bumps and bruises. Crash-Pads (Crash Pads, Inc. | Crash Pads or padding, pads and protection for hip, tailbone, butt and back. Padded shorts, pants and jackets offered for Protection. Protective and safety gear for snowboard, mountain bike, In-line, BMX, skateboard, skate, ski, pa) collaborated with Cameleon Apparel (Cameleon Apparel - Motorcycle Apparel for Women) in designing CA's impact protection. When I asked CA about impact protection for their Sliders Pants this was their response: "Because most lower body fractures occur because of bad body angle and not impact the medical professionals we talked to said keeping your skin intact was the most important element we could provide. So we focused on that feature." When I asked CA about CE ratings, this is what they said: "Thank you for your inquiry. The pad technology used in the jacket was developed by a company call Crash Pads, they have been providing protective padding for about 15 years. They currently pad the US Olympic Team and some of the top world street lugers and motocross riders. When they were selling into the European market the pads did hold a CE certification. Because we are not selling in the European market and do to astronomical cost to put it through the CE system we have chosen not to apply for the certification at this time. The pads are impact/abrasion resistant as well as the base fabric. The Invisible Armor was designed to be Mid-Range protection between all and nothing. It is not meant to compete with hard armor. We did extensive research on the jacket before it went into production and some of the facts that don’t get communicated about protective apparel are: 1) 75% of all accidents occur below 45 mph RosPa 2001 2) The majority of upper body injuries are abrasion and soft tissue injuries MSC 2006 3) Protective clothing is of most value when sliding and tumbling Otte 2002 4) Nothing can protect you from the impact of hitting a solid object at high speed. MAA 2003 I have not asked Crash-Pads any direct questions about their other products. |
