If you want to get everything you're looking for, plus a little extra comfort, and spend a little less money, look at a pair of high quality hiking boots.
I picked up a pair for 80 bucks on sale, they're weather proof (wind and rain) and insulated (I've worn them riding at 40 degrees and my feet were warmer than the rest of me) They're full grain leather and they have a reinforced ankle with a full 8" height. Actual riding boots will come up higher, but these completely cover my ankle, which what concerns me. They sole doesn't have the hard edged heel that work boots have, so they don't catch on the pegs. And yes, they have a non-slip, oil-resistant sole.
My favorite thing about them is that they're as comfortable or more so, than my sneakers, so much so that they're my primary shoes when I'm not at work.

I wear a pair of Bates Ultra Lights, 13 EW (Extra Wide) zipper boot. NOT water proof, though Bates does make a waterproof boot they do NOT recommend it for bike riding, as the lace area will let water in.
These are uniform boots, take a good polish, and are comfortable all day. I have a Suzuki Boulevard w/paddle shift and don't have to worry about my arches feeling wear on a footpeg, so these do fine for me. I'll be getting my 2nd pair soon.
My daughter also has a pair, she can hop off the bike and go straight in to work in them, no problems.

I wear these boots: ICON Superduty 3
YouTube - ICON Superduty 3 Boots Review from Sportbiketrackgear.com
Very comfortable and no complaints.

I just ordered these: Ridge, Ultimate Boots
http://64.132.159.161/Store/ProductD...7&CategoryID=2

More of a bad a_s boot, military style - and 8" long, zipper and water proof.

Hi Jay! I bought them here:

Bowers Tactical - featuring products from ARMS, Bianchi, Blackhawk, Buffer Technologies, Bulldog, Don Hume, First Samco, Fobus, GG&G, Gemtech, Global Tacital Supply, Hakko, Insight Technologies, Magpul Industries, Meprolight, Peltor, Steiner, Streaml

Here's the link:
Bowers Tactical, featuring products from Accuracy International, ARMS, Bianchi, Blackhawk, Buffer Technologies, Bulldog, CQB Solutions, Don Hume, First Samco, Fobus, GG&G, Gemtech, Global Tacital Supply, Hakko, Insight Technologies, LMT, Magpul Indus

I just did a google search. I think I got free shipping too, type in "shipping" in coupon code.

They were the cheapest and included a free pair of socks (THEY NEVER MADE GOOD ON THE SOCKS). However, they must be a really small, one man operation- I never got a confirmation for my order, so I called in concern, and he assured me he'll get 'em out in a few days. (DEFINITELY A 1 MAN OP STORE - SLOW SHIPPING TOO)

Which brand and model did you go with? Those features sound good to me.

Do you plan to drag toes ?

Do you plan to hang off like a monkey ?

The brand is Bates. I got them for $64.00, with shipping, so I think I did well. I worn them for the last few days getting them broken in. They are pretty good now be even better later.

1) No toe dragging yet, but I will drag a heel in a corner sometimes.
2) No, monkey play. Just to old for that. How about you?

If toe-dragging, get something with toe-sliders....

If hanging off like a monkey, get something with replaceable soles because in the long run, the pegs will punch holes in the soles.

This is good to read for me, as I was having the same issue. Thanks for bringing it up, and not making me do endless hours of searching this forum for it! lol

There are many different features. Remember these things are boots. A couple basics. Buy the best you can afford because you do want comfort. Any good brand name should get you the protection. Dirt biking it's really a must in my opinion. For sport bikes they're not really the best for walking...so I wouldn't get them..ride then go on a hike. Cruiser boots allow walking better. Dirt bike boots...just never try and walk much anyways.

I wear Georgia Giant work boots. They are rather water resistant, and they last for freakin ever.
