I picked up a Joe Rocket Alter Ego two weeks ago when the temps hit 25 C and I was melting under my leather jacket in stop and go traffic (umm. that's 80 F where you live. I never got Farenheit even when I was living in the U.S.).

Zip off the outer shell, take out the rain liner, wear a t-shirt underneath -- seems to be good so far, and I can still wear my leather pants.

Replace the T-Shirt with some sports underwear (believe me, synthetics are much better than cotton when you are sweating) and you'll be much more comfortable.

I often wear either sports underwear or bicycle clothing (spandex shorts and polyester shirt) under my gear. And no, I don't want to hear any smartass comments about the spandex.

actually, i have heard of some recommendations on wearing spandex / lycra cycling shorts since they do have that additional layer of cushioning. and yes, polyester-type activewear is actually very good to wear on a hot day! it's also semi-slippery, so the jacket and pants don't bind or stick or bunch up anywhere - it's still snug, but lets you move around when needed. pretty cool!

Default Evap vest

I tried Joe Rocket's Sahara Evaporative vest last week in 100 degree weather under a Mesh jacket.
The thing REALLY WORKS! Everytime I stopped to go to the restroom I just wet it in a sink and put it back on. What a great invention!

Check out the Vanson that Rockhead talked about, the web site even has a picture of a guy that bit it over his handlebars and only got a small patch of road burn. The material they make the mesh out of is great stuff and really lets you stay cool on the hot days. For around 70 bucks you just cant go wrong. Also has padding at the elbows and shoulders.

Try the Joe Rocket Sahara evaporative vest. Soak it down, put it on, and put a mesh jacket on top. Works for 2 hours....stop, go to bathroom and soak it while doing potty break.
Works really well.
