I know that most people are going to scoff when they read about this, but in my line of work, I need to be reachable in most of the situations I find myself in. To that end I just bought the Cardo Systems Scala-Rider Bluetooth system for my helmet. This small unit allows you to remain in contact, via a bluetooth phone, with the outside world that has become your cell phone. It took me about five minutes to install it on the outside shell of my helmet, another 2 minutes to pair it with my bluetooth phone and then another 5 minutes to get used to the controls with the helmet on. If your phone uses voice dial (most newer phones have this option) it makes it pretty easy to dial when you are riding. You press once on the oversize control button and if your phone supports voicedial it will ask you for a command. You say the command to dial the number and it dials, and then you can talk. I test called a few friends while riding and most could only hear a faint thrumming of the pipes in the background and said it was otherwise clear and they had no problem hearing me. If you have a need to communicate via cellphone when you ride, I would highly recommend the scala-rider. Scala-Rider |
