Default Daytona 675

Just thought I'd post some pics of the new ride...
Migrated from an M50 over to the 675. WOW, what a difference...

Picking her up from the dealer...

Getting ready to ride off the lot!

HOME at last.

After a few mods (sliders, wheel stripes, HID's, TBR pipe, tank pad, Stomp Grips)

Her purty behind...

Hey! Whats going on Mav! Hows the M50 doing? I'd be lying if I said I didnt miss it. But sometime in the future, I'll definitely be looking into one again. Or a slight upgrade. M109 maybe.

I think maybe I'll keep the old M50 avatar, for old times sake.

Not too shabby, M's fine. yeah, I'd say the 109 would be a better fit if to switch or add to your garage after being on your current beast a while.

The M's avatar staying is a great notion.....besides you've got some beautiful pics of the Triumph here in the picture forum.

Nice ride man! Seems no one can stay away from this site even though they might've moved on to other rides eh?

The 675 claims ~120HP, but I'm thinking prob 105HP or so at the rear wheel. Whats great about it is the torque. No need to rev it up to really get her moving. Power delivery is very similar to the Duc 749 I was riding for a while, but man, so much smoother is the Daytona...

What's the torque spec's at and where do they come on in the rev range?

I saw an announcement over the weekend where they were making a mini-naked Speed Triple with this engine as an "entry" level bike lol!

Yea, Triumph is releasing the "Street" Triple w/ a detuned 675 engine. Should be a fun bike! I think MSRP is 6999? Or 7999? Not too bad.

Here are the dyno charts for the 675..

Notice the torque curve. Fun starts pretty much right when you roll on the throttle.

Sweet curve!

Looks like the only bike that would give you fits in a drag race is the Kawi ZX-6. Compared to the others you've got a lot of torque on tap, and the hp picks up quick. It'd be an interesting race between your bike, the Ninja, the FZ1, and the Gixxer 6.

Those bikes look like they'd come on at the end, but I don't know.........in addition to the early torque to get you out of the hole, you've got a fatter hp curve all the way through the range too!

Must be an interesting ride?

My Uly, stock, has a similar looking torque curve, I've done some dyno tuning, and added a pipe that took that belly right out of the middle of the torque curve......It's downright hairy at times!!!

Yea, the 675 didn't win the Masterbike award in the SuperSport class the last two yrs for just looking pretty.

Riding skills being equal, I think the only bike that will hold its own w/ the 675 is the new R6 and the Gix750, which Cycle World actually did a feature on last month I think (head to head w/ the 750). Also, the new '07 CBR600 did very well in the bike tests as well. Of all the testers, I think 90% of them scored their quickest lap times w/ the 675.
The combination of weight, torque, power delivery and agility of the 675 were big factors in that...

In a drag, I'm thinking the 675 will pull on all the bikes until past 120mph or so, but by then, the race is over. =P The ninja 636 would hold its own though, but its a bit heavier I think...

But who worries about those details?
The bike is pure fun to ride. Everything about it, from the sound, to the power delivery = sh1t eating grin time.. hehe..

Wow! Nice bike Lex. I just stumbled onto this thread. I've been away from the site for a couple of weeks. Must be a blast to ride. Considering our past discussions on high insurance costs...Dare I ask?
I there a big jump from the M?

Hey! Whats up man! Was wondering where you were... hehe.. Dude, let me tell you... from the M50 to the 675 is like going from Julia Roberts to Jessica Alba. One's classy, beautiful, can live with forever... the other is spunky, HOT, can probably live with forever once she matures.

But yea, great bike man. I've been having a lot of fun... And due to an insurance loop hole, I'm actually not paying all that much, considering. I think it was $650-ish for full coverage highest limits per yr. Not as great as some other states, but definitely a great price from NJ...

Hows your M50 treating you? Still riding a lot?
