Default Honda Vfr400

89 model that has now been shown some love which
wasn't given by her last owner. In the past two months
I have rebuilt pretty much the whole bike. Gave her some
new skinz, new rear fairing(TYGA) new front upper and
lower (AirTech), new mirrors with blinkers, built a rear
hugger, Viper 39cm can, ConvertiBars, repainted the
wheels and polished the lips. Was a fun project for my
first bike.

I cant wait to get it back in the sun

I wish that I had photo shop because I honestly
don't know if I want to put anything on it or not.
Kinda looks nice and clean like that to me but a
sticker or something may break up the red a bit

Looks nice! When you polished the lips on the wheels, how did you achieve the polishing? What tool did you use? Did you need to apply any clear to the wheel to prevent corosion?

Reason I'm asking is that my wife has an M50 and we both feel that the bike would look 10 times better with some polished wheels instead of the black. I was thinking I could polish them to remove the paint, but wasn't sure how to go about it.

The paint on these were flaking really badly. So, I used aircraft paint stripper to get off all the old. When I did I noticed the lip was smooth but the spoke part and center of the wheel was a rough finish. So, I used a bench polisher and held the wheel while I polished, also used a drill with a polish mop, and never dull and elbow grease. I didn't clear it because I honestly don't think it would stick its so slick. To keep it looking sharp I hit both wheels when I was the bike with never dull and a soft rag.

To polish every part of the wheel would take so much work I would rather suggest having it chromed. But if your just doing the edge, strip em polish the lip, mask the polished area and use some Dupli-color wheel/rim paint.

Oh one last tip a product called FLITZ works great also.

Thanks Fly! Yeah, you're probably right. I talked it over with my wife last night, and She really loves her M50, but the wheels being black just doesn't suit her. It's a little too boyish. She loves the design, but would really like them Chromed or polished. Perhaps it's worth sending them off. I've seen some folks talking in other threads about it, so I suppose it's worth considering once we run out of the necessary mods and less expensive things.

Personally I'd leave it without decals. The red is very bold. I like it

Bit of an update. Had a oh hell moment

REG/REC went out about 5 miles from my home, got
a ride to pick up my cage and trailer. Loaded the bike
6 straps I thought it was a rock. WHELP it fell over
cracked the rear fairing mounting legs off where it
bolts to the sub frame. Also, pulled out all the mounting
points and broke the undertail from the fairing. After
about two weeks 30min one day an hour another bla bla
its back rollin. Thought I would throw in some white to
see what it would end up like.

Whatchya'll think?

So, you saved all of the original bodywork?

Yeah, for what its worth. Most was pretty well screwed
up in shipping except for the rear. But the front upper,
mid, lower, and air intake/rad cover were pertty well
screwed.
