Smile Just got a new Vstar 1300 Tourer

I picked up a new Vstar 1300 on Monday 11/6/06 and put 420 miles on the first four days. I am very impressed with the ride, power, fit, and finish. averaging about 45mpg. Does anyone else have one? How do you like yours?
Regards,
Rich

I've got my Honda VTX, a similar machine, but I dig the V Star pretty good, too. Except for the looks. That's the second ugliest bike on the road, in my opinion. O_O

Default vstar 1300 tourer

was checking out the roadliner, but i'm losing interest due to mtc, gas mileage & rear tire mileage issues, although i really like the way it looks.
but the vstar 1300 looks like it might have a lot to offer, one of the few bikers that likes it being water cooled. but i'm not crazy about the tire size on this bike, have only found two manufactures so far and am not sure about the availability.
my current bike, a adventure tourer, had a flat, screw in the tire, has uncommon size tires that took me a month to get after ordering online, same problem locally
i was able to find a tire at a bike dealer for twice the price. i am interested in doing some long distance touring, but i am concerned about the availability of replacements in case of a flat out in the middle of nowhere.
seems like a lot of the new bikes are coming out with there own tire size.
whats up with that?

Love those Hard bags on it, consistent with the fender. Love the look!

I've been looking at the 1300 Tourers and Royal Star Ventures. I'm leaning toward the 1300 but would like your input.

Nice ride! That should be a bike you hold onto for quite a while! It has everything you need, including being a good looker!

Default Vstar 1300

Hi, I got one the 29th of June 07 It really rides nice, but I 've noticed a tapping sound when it gets hot. I took it in for the 600 mile service they said they didn't hear nothing out of the ordinary. How does your sound?

Default for funkmon

So based on your response yours would be the first ugliest bike on the road. The honda doesn't compare to the V-Star. Are you blind man?

Default Not bickering

Just had to say it though, opened himself up with the"second ugliest bike on the road" Not really being mean just thought it was funny. But if you ask my wife and put all 4 of the big Jap cruisers side by side she would say they all look the same, So she had real good input when I bought my V-Star. I actually started looking at the VTX 1300 first. The full fendered model. It was the belt drive and fuel injection that sold me on the V-Star, and the the overall fit and finish of the frame and engine. Thats all...

Funkmon,
Whats the first... a Honda VTX? I had been studying features, looks, & value of mid size tourers for five years. I studied Victory's Indians, Harley's, Triumphs, and all metric bikes (in that order). Guess what? I just purchased a red 2007 v star 1300 tourer. Even though some of my best friends ride Harley's & Indians, this bike, for the money, is the best deal out there. Looks? the first one I saw I bought. Funkmon, do your homework.

I assume you had another bike before this one. If so what was it, and how does the V-Star 1300 compare?

I am considering one of these for my next bike, maybe next year. From what I have read, the power plant has been tricked a bit so that it has more horsepower then most 1300's. Would you agree?

Also how is the handling, at slow speeds, in and around town?

Thanks for your input,
Oldie Newbee
