Unhappy 97 katana 600 not running well after washing

I bought a 97 kanata 600 a few weeks ago and it ran fine at the time. I recently washed it and ever since then it won't run uless I have thre fuel selector on PRI. it used to have to be at the on position. if it is in the on position now it runs for Sh!@ and stalls out and then won't start until i set it to PRI.
I was told the RPI position if like A choke it make the bike run on a very rich mixture. My MPG has to gone down as well.

any ideas on what happened to my bike?

Did you wash it with high pressure ?
might be a chance you blew off the vacuum hose.
Take the left side fairing off and locate the vacuum hose to the fuel petcock, take off the fuel line from the petcock and take the vacuum hose from the inlet manifold.
Now suck the vacuum line with your mouth (selector -ON-) the fuel shoul be running out of the petcock (where you detached the fuel line) everything OK ?

running in the PRI position does NOT harm the bike, only when parked there's a chance fuel gets through into the combustion chamber.
When you start a bike with a cilinder full of fuel (which doesn't compress very well, since it's a fluid) you'll do major (lethal, total, expensive) damage to the engine.

i'm having to wait two weeks for the suzuki dealer to look at it.
I looked at the fuel what I believe is the fuel petcock. there appears to be two hoses running from it. it felt like there was something in the back of it that felt like a hose should attach to it but was unable to find any loose hoses.

if I run on PRI but leave it in the on position when parked will do i risk any damage until the Dealer can look at it.
Does running on PRI burn more fuel, seems my MPG has gone wayt down?

You shouls have a fuel hose on each side of the petcock and a vacume hose on the backside. If you feel the back and there is no hose you need to raise the tank up and find the hose and reconnect it.

I lifted the tank and there are the two fuel lines but no vacuum hose. I can't see one that is lose either, it probably fell off ( if that is possible) or wasn't there from when we bought io 10 days prior to this happening.

So I found that across the tank under side is what looks like where the vacum tube should be connected. So does it connect from the fuel petcock to the other side of the fuel tank?

Eric, the vacuum line runs from the petcock to the higher part of a carburettor, not back to the fuel tank.

unless you have one of those cali models with evaporative emission control systems, those have plumming that's beyond my comprehension, and always makes me ponder how we ever could have evolved beyond primate status.

In NJ we had some of the CA Emission bikes and your correct they have plenty of extra plumbing.

As for the problem this gent is having, Make sure all the hoses are coneccted under the tank and on each side of the fuel tap and that none of them are pinched or kinked.

Do me a favor and open the gas cap and leave it open. Then put the fuel knob on (not prime) and start the bike. See if your bad running condition goes away.

Let me know.
