Default GS500 fuel tank problem

hello, i have a 95 gs500e and it freakin starts choking and sputtering when the remote petcock is on the "ON" position. I rev the accelerator but the bike just sputters and its like the accelerator is useless and it shuts off. I have a full tank of gas. Now, as soon as i turn the petcock to the "RES" position the bike works perfectly fine and starts up and revs perfectly fine and doesnt sputter.

my question is whats the problem? is something clogging the hose or is it the remote petcock? how do i fix that problem? and how much will it run me?

i put in a little bit of "prestone complete fuel injector cleaner" into my gas tank hoping that can atleast clear the clog and clean my carbs and my valves. i dunno if thats gonna work. i'm thinking of buying some of that "seafoam" stuff, is that any good?

please help.

thanks.

Since it works on Reserve it's not the fuel line. It's the petcock. Drain the tank and remove the petcock to inspect for a clog. Some can be rebuilt.

Pull the hoses at the petcock and drain it into a suitable container. NO SMOKING!

i would put the petcock on off unhook the fuel line going to carb. blow back on the fuel line with 10 to 20 # air presure then open petcock to normal on. have the tank cap off so air can escape. that shoud clear the fuel system clear back to the tank.
