Default tach signal

On a 98 gsxr 750 where does the tach signal come from, my tach just started intermitently cutting out and i left my manuel at work so i cant look it up.

I think the 96-99 750 and the 96-00 600 are roughly the same, so I'll comment. My bike has been going through the same issue.

Play with the wires a little bit that lead from the cluster.. see if the needle intermittently shoots up and down back to 0 when the engine is running. You may have a pinched wire, or a wire that's only making contact when it's in a certain position. I personally haven't opened up the cluster, or the loom yet to check the wires.. but I have mine in a set position, and it hasn't given me any more problems in the past few weeks.


It's frustrating when it doesn't work, though.
