Default Clean Chain

Put my bike on the rear stand, got some kerosene, a paint brush, a rag, some rubber gloves & thoroughly cleaned my sprockets & chain until they shined. After they dried, I lubed the chain w/some white chain grease. Man I'm proud!

Total wax job as well!

Did you warm the chain up before applying grease to it?

Looks good though, keep doing that about once a week and that chain will last for a long time

I prefer to clean and lube my chain based on mileage, not weeks. About 300 miles for a lube, and several lubes to a cleaning.

Oh, yeah...it was warmed before cleaning. Got 6,900 miles on Q-Rokit & this was the first cleaning. It gets lubed every 500 to 600 miles but lateley I've been on gravel roads & spending quite a bit of time riding in the rain so the chain was screaming for a "Deep Clean."

Wow that chain and sprocket looks good. I was always thinking that I was going to have to remove the chain to clean it. I guess not!

Describe a little more in detail, if you will. Do you just brush the kerosene onto the whole chain and let it sit?

First & foremost, take a ride on your bike to warm the chain. After you get the bike on the stand you may wanna spread plastic or an old towel underneath the length of the chain (gonna drip some ugly stuff).

Wet the ends of your brush in the kerosene & paint it on the chain at the rear of the sprocket while slowly turning the rear wheel making sure you brush the chain & sprocket. Turn a bit & brush a bit so that the chain will be evenly saturated.

Next, use an old rag to wipe the chain clean. I wrapped the towel around the lower portion of the chain and wiped it clean a few times before turning it to the next section of chain while simultaneously wiping the sprocket as well. Careful not to get your fingers caught between the sprocket & the chain 'cause it hurts like a mutha...!

Since I couldn't see the front sprocket I know that it too was cleaned because the chain rolled around sparkling clean. I let it dry 10-15 mins while admiring how doggone shiny & clean it had become.

Finally, use the lube of your choice...no pun intended!

Much appreciated! Sounds like a fairly easy task. I love the way that chain and sprocket shine.

I usually put a lot of miles on per week and Sat morning is when I do all my detail cleaning anyhow. Just makes things easier for me, everyone has their own way of doing things.
