Hey, I'm new on the site, and I need some help. My friend has a 98 GSX-R 750, and recently changed the chain and sprokets on it. Since he did that, the bike won't go into Neutral, and the clutch seems like it's dragging. I know a bit about mechanics, but mostly cars. All I can say is that the only weird thing that happened while changing the chain is that the clutch push pin came out, and some oil leaked from the hole. An oil change was performed after anyways so it would be difficult to say that engine was missing oil. When we checked the oil after trying to run the bike, the oil had gone dark, like some kind of clutch fiber had mixed into it, so we drained the oil again, took the clutch out to inspect it, verified each plate for warping and wear but it's all within specs, with no abnormal wear on the friction plates or main plates. The clutch thickness on 5kg load is at 45.40mm which is in specs. When we took out the clutch, we noticed that the oil dripping out of the bearing holding the transmission shaft was very opaque and thick, which seams weird since the bike has new oil in it. So, we put everything back together, but still same issue, the back wheel turns when clutch is disengaged, and we can't get the bike into neutral. Other weird fact, we can get the bike into neutral, but between the 5th and 6th gear... (yes, it's really the 5th and 6th gears, we didn't mix up the 1st and 2nd...). So, any advice on what to check besides clutch would be appriciated. Thanks ! |
