I recently purchased an '87 GS450L for $300 because it was not running and unused. Charged the battery, gave the carbs a good clean, and changed the plugs to get it started. The valves are still noisy and the head gasket is leaking, but I can drive it down the road until I can find and replace these parts. Another major issue with the bike though, is my riding position. The bike is set up stock like a cruiser, with ape hanger bars and a two step seat, these need to go. I'm going to get either clubman or daytona style bars to get some of my weight on the front of the bike, but am hoping someone would have a suggestion as to some kind of custom seat, or a smaller seat from another bike that I could bolt on. Also, the rear sets on the bike are set up a little too far forward for me. Any suggestions regarding moving these back and or up would be very helpful. Thanks, Andy Johnson |
