Angry 83 GS550 Clutch problems

Hi everyone. I have an 83 GS550 that I just got running (It had been sitting in some guy's bars for about three years), and I got everything to work except the clutch. It drives fine, but I can't get the bike in neutral when the engine's on, and the it's in gear it won't roll with the clutch pulled in. It's kind of a pain because you have to turn the engine off if you want to back it up. Help?

Default clutch

Sounds like you possibly need to rebuild the clutch in that GS. There should be plenty of room to work on the clutch in that particular bike. You could do the work yourself if you pick up a mechanics manual, but since it's been sitting for a while, I'd have a professional do the work, just in case they find something else that is frozen in place, worn out, or rotten (bushings and seals) inside.
I had a similar problem with my 82 550 Maxim. I ended up having a bushing that had separated and part of it was catching when I put the bike into neutral.
