Default Fuel pouring out off Bandit if fuel tap left on prime

I did some maintenance on my 1997 Suzuki Bandit 600. after putting it back together and I added fuel to the tank and moved the fuel tap to prime (since I had drained the fule from the float bowls). the bike was just about to start when my battery died, so I took the battery off and put it back on the charger.

I left the fuel tap in prime (not thinking) and went about. I came back like 30 minutes later to a puddle of fuel on the floor. seems like the fuel filled into the carbs and then went into the airbox and started dripping out.

Is this NORMAL if it is left on prime??? I cleaned up and switched it to normal put in more gas and it did not overflow again...

thx, big
