Since I cleaned the caliper, and bled the brakes the grinding seems to have stopped and the braking seem ok. Haven't noticed any adverse handling either. Hopefully this will last a while longer as I can't afford a new one at the moment. I did find an aftermarket ebc rotor for 116 on sale as opposed to the 270 bucks for the stock Suzuki one.
