Bike: 98 suzuki intruder 1500lc

|  sometimes bike won't start
sometimes when i start my 98 suz. intruder 1500lc it sounds like my batt. is about dead with real slow turnover i pull the bike backwards about a foot or two enough for a couple of comression strokes and most of the time it starts up like nothing is wrong? do i have a floating timing and it resets when i turn on my ignition
