no mid or high power

I am new to this site, so hopefully I am doing this right.
I have a 94 gsx-r750w. Bought as a basket bike and have assembled all but bodywork. All Is stock except the V+H slip-on. I do not know much about sport bikes, but have worked on old jap cruisers for 8 years.

Problem:
Bike idles a little rough, have to adjust pilot screw yet. I rode it the other day and it has all its balls, until 4200. At this point it feels like there is only a single cylinder BSA engine in it. It does not sputter, backfire, afterfire, or knock. It runs perfectly smooth, but has absolutely no acceleration. It took me 1/2 mile to get to 50 mph.

Repairs:
Carbs rebuilt and set by myself, fresh plugs (however ran with pod filters for a couple weeks in the yard, they seem a nice light tan color), wiring has been checked for wear or chaffing. Will be replacing plugs tonight jsut to be sure.

If anyone has any ideas, let me know.
