Well I worked on it all afternoon day before yesterday and nada. I come home from work yesterday and decide to button it up to take it to the dealer when I decided to try it again. While trying to start it I hit the kill switch to make sure that it wouldn't turn over with it on, it didn't. After I turn it back on I try again and when I added some throttle the lights blinked off and on so I worked the kill switch back and fourth and the dang thing started right up. It is still dying once in a while but not if I hold the Kill switch down. So now I have something to tell the dealer.

You know those things are not worth using. I believe I used mine just a few times and then had a bit a of a problem with it. I fixed it...some crud under the contacts and have never used it again.

that's how you can tell a new rider - they shut the bike off with the kill switch, turn off the ignition then later - wonder why the bike won't start.

I don't use mine, either, but I did make the point to learn the habit in case of an emergency. That's really the only reason MSF teaches to use it.

the first bike I bought - some time back, I thought it was neat to shut the bike off with the kill switch.

The kill switch on this particular honda was very handy to the driver's right thumb.

However, later on, when you forgot you shut off the bike with the kill switch, you turn on the key, crank the bike and IT DOESN'T START.

Then you frantically wonder "what the heck just happened, the bike was just running."

and sure enough, you eventually remember the kill switch is in the off position.

Then you promise, TO NEVER USE THE DAMN KILL SWITCH AGAIN.

On my Rebel I always used the ignition key to turn the bike on/off, the kill switch was always 'on'...never used it. On my M50, the kill switch also turns on/off the EFI. My current procedure on the M50 is turn on the ignition, turn on the kill switch (EFI) and then start it up. Shut down is reversed: kill switch to 'off', turn off the ignition.

Would there be any problems if I just left the kill switch 'on' and only used the ignition? Not sure if it will mess up the EFI somehow.

Tks,
Matt
