I am trying to use a sportster tank on an 82 suzuki gs550. I am in the process of cleaning the tank out, and this tank has a popup cap. inside the rim of the cap, still on the tank not the cap itself, there is a hole which im assuming is a vent. there is also a nipple on the bottom of the tank that when I put air through it, it comes out of that hole in the top of the tank by a tube that runs through the tank and up to that hole inside the cap as if it goes right through the tank for no reason. does anyone know what the inside of this tank looks like and how it functions? my second question is on the gs550 i have hooked up a funnel to the fuel line that goes into the carb to see if the bike runs since I have not heard it run yet and I dont have a tank on it. it does turn over. when I pour gas into the fuel line it just pisses out of the air vent tubes that are in between the carbs and run down the frame. any ideas why, and how I can get closer to getting the bike to start?  |
