Good morning--I have a 1983 suzuki gs1100g- was leaving on a trip-bike had been running fine although I had a minor backfire on occasion--but assumed bike just needed to run more----I had just put new plugs in --installed new radio---but everything worked fine---took bike up and down street a couple of times and started and ran fine. Was driving in town when the bike just quit suddenly. No loud noises. Went to start and it wouldn't then it had a very loud backfire. Wouldn't start and then I used full choke and it did start and I drove it about three blocks to my office--it seemed to be fine again. I stopped there for a moment and came back out but bike would not start. Brief firing at first -then sometimes would rev up and down on a cycle but wouldn't completely start. Pulled plugs---spark is there for a second then stops completely. Sometimes sparks when we quit start button. Carbs are getting fuel. Spark will not continue as we turn it over. We tested coils and they seem to read fine and equal. Tested signal generator but not showing any reading. Not sure if we tested it properly. Does it sound like a short somewhere?------I had power washed it carefully a few days ago?---Has been in garage at home. thankyou bob |
