Default need more air

How's it going, has anyone figured out how to get more air to the box on a 08 suzuki c90, been thinking about getting the airbox covers fabbed and cutting holes in the airbox.

And by doing that, just exactly what are you trying to accomplish?

The C90 has electronic fuel injection, right? It is optomized at the factory for the input and output that the bike is built with. Messing with air IN or exhaust OUT will likely give you a dissapointing result.......without other costly changes.

Less restriction of the input air will NOT, by itself, make the bike run any better. It might make it run worse.

oh, that's good to know, I really did not know that, I was thinking of modding a ram-air type jobby, I'm getting bored, I wanted a hypercharger or some type of aftermarket intake for looks/power but I could'nt find anything for my bike yet, so that's what I was thinking.

Well, once again a LITTLE knowlege is a dangerous thing.

Since you already have a K&N, I doubt your are going to get any real performance boost......and I don't think I would be ripping the air box apart just for looks......

BUT....

You already have a PCIII (which wasn't in your profile or sig. the first time), so go for it. Them puppies can compensate for almost anything......except a hole in the block.

I think I can wait on performance, I'll go with just looks only for now until I get back from deployment, after that, I'll be going crazy on it with everything!!!!!

Is there any other difference for Stage 3 engines other then the Air Cleaner?

Cams, valve timing, ignition timing, displacement, exhaust, compression ratio, etc.

A stage 3 air filter on a stock engine does not necessarily improve performance. It may cause increase HP on top end, while causing bogging and lean out on the lower end of RPM. this can create real drive-ability issues.

So if you are re-camming the bike, increasing the displacement, advancing the timing, increasing compression ratios, you need more air.

If you just do the air cleaner, it is likely a waste of time and may hurt drive-ability.

Highly tuned engines make a lot of HP, but often aren't very "drivable".

If you are really into top speed and HP, a V-Twin cruiser isn't exactly the best choice. Unless you are talking Ducati or the likes.

MY $0.02 anyway.

This is the Stage 3 full setup, fuel processor+filter. In 1 minute I can program the processor for max hp or max mpg. I have left the settings for max mpg and superslab mpg is 45 and in the country my best mpg was 49.
