Default popping and hesitation

Hi! I'm brand new member with a problem. This is long! Bought '05 vstar 1100 with 5200 miles. decided to do my own maint. three oil changes and new rear tire so far no prob. Adjusted the valves last week and sync the carb with a make it yourself tool I heard of online. Bike ran like never since I have owned it, for about a day. Then the popping at decel and now it has a hesitation at slow accel. If I twist the trottle It still screams. On the highway it surges when I level out. No problem on fast acceleration. I did find a vaccum hose cracked but this did not fix it. I need help! I have a little over 13000 on the bike in the three months that I have owned it. Ride to work everyday, repeat EVERYDAY. Love the 1100. Most like riding a horse to work that I have found.

Popping on decel is usually a sign of altered back pressure when aftermarket pipes are put on. Have you run any carb cleaner thru? Almost sounds like a fuel delivery issue as well.

found a hose to the head on#1 loose at air canister when I put it back together. The hypercharger hose was hard to get attached but finally did. there was a break in a vaccum hose from hyper charger to front carb- replaced. No apparent change. That same hose come off once and caused popping but the hesitation at slow acceleration is new.

My bike had cobra slash cuts when purchased, by the way they sound great(not loud just toned). Haven't had a prob before now. By the way excuse the hurried typing(sounds like bad hick grammer, although I are one).

Sounds like a bit of crap in one or more pilot circuits...carb cleaner is the way to go for first attempts. Also if there were a few lines either off or cracked I would suspect all others and do a careful check. Check the fuel valve lines and tank cap for vacuum too!

Good luck

Dumb Me! I found it! Bent needle in #1 carb. Another long story, It was my fault. Found a piece of tube in the carb throat. Evidently the suction of acceleration pressed against the needle and bent it. I straightened it out and all is well again.Thank you again guys for trying to assist me. I owe you.
