Bike: Yamaha Fazer 600

Hey lads, sorry to make my first post a question, poor form I know, I'll post up an intro tomorrow, but I've tried all avenues with this and no-one has come across the same problem before. Here goes: Bought a Yamaha Fazer 600 one month ago. Running perfect till two days ago. Went out to start her at lunch for a quick spin on one of our few and far between sunny Irish Summer days. Turned her to ON, then the speedo started flying round its housing, and kept resetting itself. Fired her up and it wouldn't rev over 1000revs. Turned her off, and when I turned it back on it was dead. Checked fuses and the like, still dead. Then it turned on again with same drama from the electrics and speedo. Turned off, when I started her again everything was fine… Drove home perfect. She started this morning no probs, but when I was driving up the road speedo started to hop about and clocks went off. Took it back home where it again wouldn't rev. When I turned it on and off again it was completely dead. Took out the main fuse (perfect) and put it back in and it started perfectly….. Brought it to my dealer, he is putting in a second hand CDI he has and is checking all connections. Throttle Positioning Sensor is fine. He is baffled by it too, and he has a lot of Fazer experience. Only thing I did that may affect it is I left the ignition in the ON position for around five hours about 5 days ago ( real smart I know…..). I heard this may fry a CDI. The problem is the fault is intermittent and seems very hard to diagnose. Sorry for the long post, just hoping someone out there has experienced the same issue. Cheers Lads!! Mceava. |
