It must be leaking for the gas to get in there and in my experience this sort of leak will only get worse. Once you have fixed the float/needle/valve issue you will have to fix the leaking petcock or the whole thing will eventually return.

The bowls are fairly small and there is enough gas in the TUBE below the shut-off to flood it. this is what im gonna go with because the petcock is definitly not leaking. the line is about 1/4'' in diameter and about 6 inches long...almost enough fuel to fill the bowl |
