Ok, I probably already know the answer, but I don't see how it could be the carbs. Anyway, I have a 95 Suzuki Katana 600 that has been sitting all winter in Cleveland Ohio. Two weeks ago I pulled it out of the garage to try and get it started up and ready for this sseason. New battery installed this year as it died on me after 4 years last season. Usual starting procedure, remove the seat spray the air box with starter fluid and crank it up. Worked wonderfully, unfortunately major gas leak this year, both lines. Go on BikeBandit and order both fuel lines because no one in Cleveland stocks them, get them both in in seperte orders, install the first one last week and try to start it up starts fine once on first try, obviouslly still a leak. Go out the next day just because I want to hear it. Very difficult to start and will only run with throttle opened all the way and will not rev past 1000 rpm. Thinking the fuel leak is the culpret I stop it and wait for the onthe fuel line. It arrives, I install it and put the air box and tank back on. IT WON"T START. Tear it back down repeatedly trying to make sure I have everything hooked back up correctly, hook it up to a car battery, because by now I have drained the new battery cranking the engine. Get a huge tailpipe backfire and a couple of almost starts but wont turn over. It can't be the carbs can it, I don't have the time to clean the damn things or the money to pay someone else. Maybe its the plugs, maybe it's the kickstand kill switch. Any ideas? |
