Default V-Star Oil Leak - Neutral Switch

I noticed a small oil leak while cleaning my '02 650 V-Star Classic this spring. After taking the chrome cover off behind the shifter shaft, I thought the problem was a tapped hole in the side of the case that didn't have anything in it. After looking closer, I identified the neutral switch as the culpret. It appears that two of the screws were overtightened, cracking the switch plate.

Has anyone ever had this switch off? The service manual doesn't say much about it. It has an o-ring on it, so since it's low on the engine, it looks like I'll have to drop the oil before pulling it out. I was just wondering if there are any surprises behind it when I pull it out, or if it will be an easy fix.

Also, does anyone know what that large tapped hole I mentioned is for? Nothing I removed was in that hole and it looks strangely clean. I'm not sure if something has fallen off of it, or if it's just un-used.

Eric.
