Ok I started the Bandit up and it sounded to be running a little funny....maybe not as smooth as usual. I thought nothing of it and set off on my trip. The motor appeared to be running on less than four cylinders. I got to where I was going....only a short trip...to find fuel coming out of #4 carb and dripping onto the engine. I touched it to check that it actually was fuel and it did stink of petrol but not as much as I expected....I do seem to have a slight chest infection so that may account for this. I suspect the float/needle to be the cause although what it might actually be is still open to conjecture as I rode the bike the day before without any problems. If the petrol was diluted and my nose was/is working OK then I would expect to find some water...maybe... when I drain the fuel bowel but how it got in there and why only #4 is anybody's guess....maybe the others will follow next? We have had some very warm to hot weather lately and the humidity has been higher than norm but this weather has happened before without any problems occuring. The motor did pick up on all four cylinders at about 3 thou rpm + so the fault may not be what I first thought...maybe a vacuum issue??? but why the float overflow? Anyone here had a similar fault just come on without any warning? and if so what did it turn out to be. Cheers Steve |
