| I was surfing and found this interesting little question on another forum just for Bandits......... "heard a rumor about a little pink wire under the seat of my 04 bandit 1200s. They said it was an ignition retarder for 1st gear to keep the front end down. They also said it could be unhooked with no consequence to the bike. Is this true please help? has anyone ever heard of this before and if so does it work and where exactly is it located?" Thanks Matt As he got no responses does anybody know here what this dude is talking about before I go and rip my tank off and take a look see for myself?????

| To my understanding that is true of the euro bikes. I do not have a diagram of the euro bike to verify though, so it would be a good idea to check locally.

| I have looked thru my Clymer wiring diagrams and cnnot find a "pink" wire anywhere. There is a diagram for the UK model and it does have a couple of wires from the gear position switch that go to the ignitor red with trace and a green. Then there are two wires that come from the TPI to the ignitor yellow and blue. I would expect the wire to go to the ignitor but under the seat???? I went to see if I coul find it and there is a large connector that does indeed have what appears to be a pink wire in it. This goes to a black box...presumably the control unit/ignitor???? which is fixed to the LH frame member under the rear cowling.....now do I cut it........................................ Just found the wiring diagram for my year and country. The black box is actually the CPU and according to the book there is no pink wire coming out of it................. sooooooo do I cut the one I found or is it actually red
